Tales about darkness. Jagtvej69. Dec20th 2007

Was at the Mondaymeeting of the Ungdomshuset people. Very impressive setting, in a school hall that was covered with colorful grafitti on every spot, ceiling, doors, flloor, coloumns, everything. I was thinking of a guy in Montreal who was getting into spraying and he told me that very few people did it because the fines if you got caught were extremely high and there was almost zero tags around. Here in Copenhagen especially in Noerrebro everything is full of Graffiti.
The approximately 60 guys an girls looked amazing in that space, like afilm set, dressed mostly in black. R.s friend wore a jacket with the words that could be translated with something like ‚Shoot Fogh’ and I was wondering

if you could get taken to court if you wore a shirt in Germany saying „Shoot Merkl“. In the States probably... oh well.
The atmosphere was quiet, focused, kind of ‚in tune’. People spoke calmly but everything was easy to understand. I was thinking again of the ancient form of the ‚Ting’ meeting Inge had brought to my attention. At a certain point during the discussion Martin and I were asked to go outside because they were discussing the newest infos about a suggestion of the city for a new Ungdomshuset and were it should be located.
R. gave me the contact of K. who is organisig next weeks demo. When I spoke to K. later and told her my idea about a collaboration she really liked it and listended extremely autentatively when I said that there have been probably mistakes on both sides and I wanted to create a kind of unpolitical meta level and let people read tales about darkness - on one of the darkes days of the year. From then on the daylight will increase. Every demonstration seems to have a theme and last week it was light so she really liked my idea and the performance will happen next week, Thursday at ‚ground69’ at half past 7 at the end of the demonstration. The atmosphere was quiet, focused, kind of ‚in tune’. People spoke quiet but everything ws easy to understand. I was thinking again of the ancient form of the ‚Ting’ meeting.
Martin showed me the beautiful yellow wall of the cemetery along which a major part of this years riots happened. It was covered with the numbers 69 all over and kind of funny was a sign of the city forbidding grafittis. Then he showed me Jagtvei69 where the old Ungdomshuset stood before it got torn down. Looks ugly, sad and brutal. Like an artificial hole or wound. Dark. Hard to say anything. Striking. Martin lives right behind and when in March the area was closed off because of the riots he had to show his passport in order to get to his house.
